IamMore Day 2018 for RMWD Stella

March 22, 2018

Stella is a Retired Military Working Dog who was recently diagnosed with Degenerative Myelopathy. At this stage in Stella's progression, she is beginning to lose stability and balance in her rear. Our goal is to provide her with all the tools needed to slow the disease's progression. In-home assistance for her owners in handling their Stella as the disease progresses are her top needs. She still attends events with her momma, an active handler in the Air Force, to promote and support active Military Working Dogs. Please lend a helping hand to this warrior princess!A Letter from Stella's Momma: "My journey with Stella began January 6th 2014 when I arrived at Kunsan AB, South Korea. We were certified as a Patrol Narcotics detector dog team with the Korean national police and hand in hand with Office of special investigations. She taught me so much in just a year, it was crazy how much of an impact a dog could have on a person. We worked many exercises, long shifts and sat through many sunrises together and as always she was the best form of therapy. We had a little break in work when she was being treated for “lameness” but she was back up and working once well rested. We finished my tour in Korea strong and it came time to say good bye. A few years went by and upon her return, her lameness in her hind legs had clearly progressed. Stella retired with full honors due to her Degenerative Myelopathy diagnosis. Since May 2017, Stella has been happily living her retired life, getting an endless amount of love from everyone she comes in contact with."
