FAQs

Answers to some common questions you may have!

What about the coronavirus?

We are of course as concerned as everyone with the spread of COVID-19. Our venue is taking many measures to ensure the safety of our guests (e.g., all staff will be wearing PPE, masks, and gloves; there are no more than 6 people per dining table, etc).

Our plan all along has been to have a small wedding. We expect to have around fifty of our closest friends and family.

Based on the current reopening plan for Illinois, we should be in compliance as of June 27th, but obviously things can change. We are working to secure a backup venue in Lafayette, Indiana, just in case, which is already allowing 100 person gatherings. Lafayette is about a 2.5 hour drive from Chicago, but the Indianapolis airport would be closer(1 hour drive), so feel free to hold off on booking any travel plans until closer to the wedding.
We hope to have an update for all our guests by mid-July on where things stand. And definitely reach out if you have any concerns or questions.

When is the deadline to RSVP?

We appreciate an RSVP by July 21st, though we are certainly flexible if there is still a lot of uncertainty related to the virus by then. Please reach out to us if there are any concerns or questions.

Is there a dress code?

We prefer black tie (or formal) attire for the wedding and reception. If you don't own or prefer not to wear a tuxedo, formal suit, evening dress, or pantsuit, please wear what is comfortable to you though keeping in mind others may be dressier.

Are kids welcome?

Our reception is 21 and over only.

Will there be dancing?

YES! We will have a live band playing our favorite pop and dance hits from the 80's. Want to request a song? Do so on the RSVP page! (if you have already RSVPed but forgot/did not request a song and would like to, you can feel free to edit your response)

Are there any local places you’d recommend I visit while I’m in town?

The W is a short walk away from Millennium Park, Grant Park, the Chicago Art Institute, and Lake Michigan beaches. All should be lovely in July. We are also huge fans of the Chicago dining scene. Here are some of our favorites.
Hot Dogs, Sausages: Gene's Sausage Shop (awesome rooftop in Lincoln Square during the summertime serving grilled hot dogs and sausages with German beer on tap!), Kaiser Tiger (a very special place for us!)
Tacos: Big Star (get the margaritas -- but only get pitcher if you have nothing on the schedule for a few hours!)
Brunch: Lula Cafe, Dusek's
Asian: Momotoro, Imperial Lamien
Italian: RPM Italian, Spiaggia, L'Aventino (great roman pizza place and wine bar with a cute patio a block or two from the W; would be a great post wedding bite!)
Seafood: GT Oyster, Brown Bag Seafood Co
Michelin-starred: Oriole, Alinea, Boka
Cathy's top 3 picks: Le Colonial, Fig and Olive, RPM Italian (honorable mentions: Pacific Standard Time, Shanghai Terrace)
Tim's top 3 picks: Bavette's, RPM Steakhouse, Prime and Provisions (honorable mentions: Swift and Sons, Gibson's)
Other great places: Boka, NoMi, Girl and the Goat, Purple Pig, Topolobampo
Bars: Gilt Bar, the Aviary, Coq d'Or at the Drake (Cathy's favorite bloody Mary)
