Once upon a time, in the halls of Carl Sandburg High School two people crossed paths; Lauren Klomes and Kyle Coots. Lauren and Kyle were both percussionist and on the Sandburg drumline. Who would have known that this common interest between two 14 year-olds would lead them to where they are today.
The real love story starts when Kyle and Lauren were in Hawaii for a marching band trip that honored the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. On Thanksgiving day 2011 the band was at a waterpark. In Hawaii they set off fireworks to celebrate Thanksgiving, so while this was going on Lauren and Kyle walked away from the group to chat about their feelings. At some point in this conversation, Lauren dared Kyle to kiss her under the Thanksgiving fireworks. While the two of them were on a romantic walk, a firework set fire to a pavlion at the waterpark and the band director was taking a head count of the students, all the sudden the two of them heard their band director shouting, "we are still looking for Lauren Klomes and Kyle Coots." The rest is history.
The two of them have been dating ever since, "facebook offical" on Dec. 4th 2011.
Lauren and Kyle enjoy taking on new adventures together, whether is it trying out a new brewery, a new bike trail, or seeing a new band; they always know how to have fun and enjoy each other's company.
On Dec 12, 2020 Kyle planned a special date to the Brookfield Zoo lights, a place that Lauren and Kyle visit every Christmas. When they were by the penguin house, Kyle got down on one knee and asked Lauren to keep the adventures coming in life but as husband and wife. Lauren said yes! Click here to see the video.
They are each other's bestfriend and are excited to take on this adventure called life together. From walking the halls of Sanduburg together, to walking through life together!
Cheers to the memories they already share and the ones to come.
