FAQ + Local Info

Extra details about our wedding day and
our favorite things about the seacoast!

Are there any local places you’d recommend I visit while I’m in town?

There sure are! There's lots to do in Portsmouth proper, and also a bit farther afield. Some of our recommendations are:

Visit Strawbery Banke Museum! You'll find the museum in the heart of historic downtown Portsmouth. Made up primarily of authentic and historic houses that populated the city over 300+ years, this 10-acre outdoor history museum provides a unique look at historic Portsmouth and is sure to be lovely in the fall.

Shopping! Mere steps from the hotel are some of the sweetest and locally owned shops you'd hope to find in a New England harbor town. Some favorites on Market Street in Portsmouth are Wigglesworth's Mercantile, Sea Bags (headquartered on Portland, ME), and Le Roux Kitchen. Tayla Mac is a sweet boutique in Kittery, ME, just across the bridge. You can also hit the outlets in Kittery! A little farther afield, back in NH, you'll find Christine's and Summer House.

Odiorne State Park! Whether you're in town early or decide to spend the full weekend, you can visit Odiorne State Park. This state park holds the Seacoast Science Center, where we'll have our reception, but it's also full of different paths to be explored, views to take in, and picnic spots to enjoy. And of course, if you want to visit the Science Center, go for it! This is an especially great choice if you have kiddos.

Golfing! There are multiple public courses to choose from, including Breakfast Hill Golf Club, Sagamore-Hampton Golf Club, and Portsmouth Country Club.

Walking the beach! Jenness Beach and North Hampton Beach are particular favorites.

Where should I eat while I'm in town?

Great question! There's great food to be found on the seacoast. This list is by no means exhaustive, merely made up of our favorites.

1. The Ice House in Rye, NH. If you go one place while visiting, make it the Ice House. A seasonal, family-owned business that has long been a favorite of the Nettletons, and now Mack, too. October will be the very end of their season, so soak up those very last warm weather vibes. We wouldn't fault you if you wanted to opt for a lobstah roll given the locale, but our favorite is the clam strip basket with waffle fries - and don't forget a Moosetracks ice cream come to top it off. (A general note on ice cream on the NH seacoast - they serve laaaaarge portions. Chances are a kiddie size will do ya just fine.)

2. Throwback Brewery is a (women-owned!) farm-inspired brewery and restaurant located in North Hampton, NH. Between the wide-ranging selection of beer and the hyper local menu, it's hard to go wrong here. Good vibes, all around!

3. Lexie's is a small chain in the NH seacoast area. Their menu is simple and to the point with a range of signature burgers (plus vegetarian options), fish tacos that Tory's mom loves, fries, and shakes. Oh! And beer, too.

4. Nikki's Bahn Mi is a hole in the wall, serving authentic southeast Asian cuisine. Great for lunch!

5. Las Olas Taqueria - Hampton & Exeter, NH. A lot like a Chipotle, but we think it's a lot better. If you've decided to spend the day exploring outside Portsmouth and find yourself hungry and nearby one of their locations, it's a great lunch! Nachos are a favorite!

6. Kolby's in downtown Portsmouth is a little breakfast and lunch nook, discovered by the Ryans on a visit to Portsmouth. The menu has a bit of a diner vibe with the charm of a New England hole in the wall aesthetic. Enjoy brunch, complete with a mimosa or Bloody.

When should I RSVP by?

We'll be collecting RSVPs on this site and will aim to have all RSVPs in by August 22nd.

Can I bring a plus one?

Unless noted, no.

Are kids welcome?

Beyond immediate family at the ceremony, this is an adults-only event. We love your kiddos, but due to venue limitations, we can't accommodate them at the chapel or reception. That being said, please reach out if you're bringing the whole family to Portsmouth as we're happy to help you find a babysitter!

Can I take and post pictures of the wedding on social media?

You sure can! Just make sure we look good, ya feel? #mackandtees

Will there be dancing?

What else is a wedding for?

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

There is parking at both the ceremony and reception, but we're also arranging group transport to allow our guests to fully enjoy the evening.

What should I know before attending the ceremony?

Here's what you should know:
1. Go to the bathroom before leaving the hotel! There is one very small bathroom at the chapel, which is located next to the alter. Pretty awkward!
2. There is transportation between the hotel, the chapel, and the reception.

I still have questions, what is the best way to contact you?

Feel free to email Tory @ torynettleton@gmail.com.
