The Black and White

I want God to crack the clouds and tell me what to do, when life is complicated or busy or simply whole. Whether he asks me to do or where to go, I don't know, I just want to ensure that I'm doing the right thing and what God wants. But where is the faith in that? What is the point of reading the Bible or cultivating our relationship with the Lord if, anyway, he wants to rule our lives? This is not how our relationship with God works, though it may not seem like that at times, it is not the best. God would have us understand. He wants us to aspire towards Him and implore His word and choose what we believe, based on Him's wisdom and experience which is the highest and most glorifies His name. That said, we must also realize that religion is going to be different for each person. We are a lot of different people so our relationship with God will be different as well. At different times we all learn different things and face our own convictions and challenges. Most of life is brown, not black and white, including our faith. But what's clear in the Bible is how we should love one another and not judge. Matthew 7:1-6 sadly says, "Do not judge, or you will also be judged; for just as you judge others, so you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured by you." The chapter goes on to say, "Why do you look at the grain of the sawdust in your brother's eyes, and pay no attention to the plank in your eyes? Hypocrite, first take your own eye on the wall, then you'll see clearly to remove your brother's eye from the stain. "These scriptures remind us that most of us struggle. We all have an urgent need for Christ and for His salvation, and He died for each one of us.
