On Sunday, April 3, 2022 a reception will be held in celebration of their marriage in the Big Cabin at Camp Chowenwaw in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
The first time Billy and Rebecca laid eyes on each other was outside a bar in Jacksonville in 2007. At the time, Billy, 28, was attending massage therapy school, working catering events part-time, living in a spare room at his grandfather house, and had Mason, who was 8 years old. Rebecca, 23, was working at Outback Steakhouse on the other side of the city, drinking way too much, and living alone in a garage apartment that would come to be appropriately nicknamed "The Shed". Then, on January 11th, 2008, Billy went home with Rebecca and nearly fourteen years later, hasn't left.
Things moved very quickly for them when they found out a month later they were expecting Sage. Being poster children for a "hot mess" meant that weren't even close to being ready or mature enough for everything they would soon be facing. However, together they made a commitment to do the best that they could, and building thier family came first. Standing by each other's side, they fullfilled that commitment by dealing with the seemingly never ending financial struggles, mental health problems, legal issues, school, and everything else that life threw at them. Four years after Sage, Leviathan was born. Together Billy and Rebecca matured and overcame these challenges, bringing them even closer together.
During their fourteen years together, the subject of marriage would come up from time to time, but it was always at the bottom of a long list of goals or other trials that were more significant to their growing family. That commitment has always had to come first. Now that they are older and all around much more stable, the topic of marriage was no longer at the bottom of the list. And together, they decided it was finally time.
