Two architects with creative eyes for design, this Blueprint Pair customized their registry to perfectly suit their needs and desires. These two tied the knot in October and we couldn’t be happier for them! Read on for a sweet love story with a happy renovation ending.
How did you two meet? What did you do for your first date?
We met at work, but both were hesitant to date a coworker, so we were friends for 5 years before we finally started dating! There was a day when we watched the Preakness horse race and hung out all day together, and only later realized it was our “first date.” Every year when the Preakness happens we remember it’s our anniversary.
Tell us your proposal story!
We were packing up for a two-week road trip to see our families for the holidays, and as usual, we were running late. As we were gathering our things on the front porch, Matt asked me to sit in a chair, and I told him we didn’t have time to waste, but he insisted. I had no idea he was going to propose then and there. Matt wanted to propose before seeing our families and also in a place we love and walk by everyday.
We’d love to know a little about your wedding.
We were married on a warm October day in a beautiful private courtyard in San Antonio, Texas. We were honored to be married by Matt’s father, a 92-year-old theologian, and also our little blind dog Wawa served as the ringbearer.
Why did you decide to choose Blueprint Registry?
We are both architects, and we were looking for a registry platform that would help us follow through with our house renovation. We didn’t need more stuff, so we thought it would be fun to share our design ideas with our friends and family, and separate them into group gifts so they could select the ideas they liked the most. A friend told us about Blueprint Registry, and the custom gift feature worked perfectly for our registry concept!
Which gift that you received is your favorite?
Since our registry is made up of everything we want to do for our renovation, we are looking forward to all of it!
What’s your favorite Blueprint feature?
Blueprint’s cash group gift feature was a perfect way for us to showcase our own personalities by uploading a custom photo and writing in our description for each gift/design idea.
What advice do you have for people planning their wedding, or for building their registry?
We won’t lie – the wedding planning was really stressful at times, but we tried our best to make decisions based on what we wanted, not what everyone says you have to do. It’s going to cost more than you think, so make it what you want!
