Chip first laid eyes on Kathryn in the fall of 2017 when she knocked on his door to have a hangout at the Mason's, who Chip lived with at the time. Although he was caught off guard by her beauty, it wasn't until summer of 2018 that they first were able to spend time getting to know one another while working on an album with their mutual friend, Lindy Cofer. Kathryn was the "hype woman"/photographer helping the album process, and Chip was the bassist in the band. That fall, they began to realize how incredible each other were! No suprise, Kathryn, being the initiatory and bold woman that she is, made the first move. She "needed help" finding an auto-body shop to fix her car, so she called Chip in for backup. He of course said yes to helping, and to "repay" him for his help, she offered to treat him to coffee. They sat and talked for an hour and a half about life and Jesus, and both liked how the "un-offical first date" felt. Soon though, both went on Carry the Love tour with the Circuit Riders and were apart for the spring. It wasn't until summer 2019 that Chip's eyes really began to open to the potential of their friendship becoming something more. During the Circuit Riders summer 21Project & Infusion Camp in Kona, HI, Chip started intentionally hanging around Kathryn to get to know her better. Everywhere Kathryn was, Chip would causally pop-up too. Their friends started to take notice. A few weeks later, they joined together again on a European tour with Lindy & the band. Kathryn, fresh off a trip to Norway, had caught on to Chip's intentionality and they hung together for 4 fun days in Northern Ireland. In August, once they landed back on American soil, Chip didnt wait long to decide to ask her on their OFFICIAL first date. After a day at the beach with friends, he was won over by her surfing skills, and even braved the waves himself to spend time with her on the water. The next morning he cut to the chase, and asked her out. She said YES, and the rest is history!
